The Mamertion Foundation is a non-profit educational organization based in Lakewood, Colorado.  For over fifteen years, the primary focus of the Foundation had been the excavation of a long lost ancient Hellenistic town in Southern Italy.

In the summer of 2005, The Mamertion Foundation shifted its focus toward a new classical site on a mountaintop in southern Calabria.  The Foundation completed the first archaeological investigations at the site in July, and the findings seem to indicate the presence of a small Greek settlement.

The excavations conducted by the Mamertion Foundation are done under the authority of the Superintendence of Archaeology of Calabria.  In addition to the excavation and exploration of ancient Monte Palazzi and its environs, the Foundation is also dedicated to the preservation and conservation of the site so that it may be enjoyed by future generations.
